INTRODUCTION TO THE RULES
Follow the link below for an introduction to the rules of basketball based on the FIBA rules.
Applications now open for the next School beginning in late March 2020.
All applicants must be 14 years of age as of 1st January 2020 to be eligible.
BEGINNER SCHOOL INFORMATION
Group Interview/Information Session:
This process begins with a group interview/information session to identify if you are suited to the demanding environment of refereeing
Date: Saturday 28th March 2020
Venue: Basketball Hawthorn Office (48 Whitehorse Road, Deepdene)
- Training Sessions:
- Theory Session 1 – Thursday 16th April 5.30pm, Venue TBC
- Theory Session 2 – Thursday 23rd April, 5.30pm, BH Office
- Theory Session 3 – Thursday 30th April, 5.30pm, BH Office
- Theory Session 4 – Thursday 7th May, 5.30pm, BH Office
Beginners are paired with an experienced mentor and train at various venues from Rd 1, 18th April 2020 of Saturday Junior Domestic season.
Course Costs – $150.00 per applicant: Payable once accepted into the Referee Beginners Course after Group Interview.

On-court session as a minimum training before being graded as Level C
