The following information will provide a general overview of the structure and governance of HBA Junior Domestic Competitions.
FIXTURES, LADDERS & RESULTS
Games times and venues are available at the HBA website. Mobile and tablet device support is offered via the SportsTG GameDay app – these programs are managed external from HBA operations and should not be relied upon for accurate / up to date information. If in doubt always refer back to the HBA website. Fixtures are subject to change and should be checked regularly. Teams are advised NOT to print fixtures.
Saturday: U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18
Sunday: U18, U21 & U23

Timing – 2 x 18minute halves / 45 minute schedule
Venues – various facilities are used across the Boroondara municipality and surrounding region. Currently 14 venues / 25 courts are actively utilized. For a complete list of venues click HERE
Saturday Match Times – Games are played between 9:45am – 7:30pm. Age groups are scheduled sequentially, starting with U9 & U10 competitions, and finishing with U18 competitions in the early evening.
Sunday Match Times – Games are played between 1:45pm – 6:00pm. Age groups are scheduled sequentially, starting with U18 competitions and concluding with U23.
SEASON DATES & STRUCTURE
Summer Season – Term 4 and Term 1 of Victorian School term dates.
Winter Season – Term 2 and Term 3 of Victorian School term dates.
Competition Dates – Games are not scheduled on public holidays and subject to slight variances each year around public and private school dates/curriculum. Refer to competition calendars for exact dates of current season.
Grading Phase – First four rounds of season. These games do not count towards season ladder.
Finals Phase – Top 4 in two round playoff format.
HBA welcomes registrations from new and existing teams. The registration period will be open for twice a year leading up to the commencement of the Winter and Summer seasons. The majority of teams & players in Junior/Under Age Competitions (U9 – U23) register with an affiliated local club – however individual/independent teams are also welcome. Independent teams are required to be fully self sufficient; provide a coach & team manager, have a complete list of players, and organize their own training sessions. HBA strongly recommends all general inquiries for individual players be directed to a club – a list of clubs and contacts can be found HERE
Fee schedule effective Summer 2018/19 season:
Team Registration Fee = $170.00
Match Fees = $75.00
24hr+ notification = $150.00
Less than 24hrs notice = $175.00
Un-notified = $200.00
Club based members pay fees directly to their club – fees & scheduled may vary depending on other factors such as hire of training facilities. HBA operates as cashless system with registration and match fees paid via online registration & invoicing. There are no door entry fees at any venue on match day.
COMPETITION BY-LAWS AND CODES OF CONDUCT
All teams and their members must be familiar with HBA Competition By-Laws and Basketball Victoria Codes of Conduct. These documents are available from the HBA website.
By registering and playing at HBA all members agree to the following;
The team will abide by the HBA By-Laws.
The team will comply with BV Codes of Conduct.
The team will comply with all requirements in relation to Working With Children Check legislation.
The team will ensure that all fees, match payments and fines incurred will be paid promptly.
