Our very own Hawthorn Magic BigV Division One Men's team will play an exhibition match against the u19 Chinese national team this coming Monday (April 29th) at Xavier College. Tip-off is at 7:15pm. Admission is FREE and all are welcome to attend the match and the light supper afterwards.

2012/13 Summer Finals Results and MVP Winners

Below is where you'll find all the finals results and MVP winners from the the 2012/13 summer season. Following each match, like with the Brownlow Medal, the referees award 3, 2 and 1 votes to who they deem to be the most valuable player in each match. Beginner Hoops Basketball Clinics

Hannah Lowe (11 year BigV captain/player and Hawthorn Magic coach) and Gabe Kaufmann (BigV Youth League squad member and ex-Hawthorn Magic junior) are running term 4 beginner clinics around the Boroondara Area. They are geared for children up to grade 2 who are beginners and looking to get involved in basketball but not yet ready to commit to a team. Spots are limited, and these clinics often fill. Cost is $100 for the term and this cost includes a ball for every participant. [More Details]

2012 Grand Final Results and MVP Awards

Xavier College Feed and Fundraiser

During junior finals, there will be BBQ's at Xavier College on 1st, 8th and 15th September. Xavier would would welcome your patronage for Egg & Bacon Rolls in the morning ($4.50 each) and all day/afternoon Sausage in Bread (& Onions if desired) for $2.50 and cans of soft drink ($1.50). Sauce, and serviettes will of course be provided. Funds are being raised to support trip costs and a project in a community in Ecuador in June/July 2013. This is the 3rd annual World Challenge Expedition by Xavier.

Hawthorn Magic are the BigV SYC2W Champions

Hawthorn Magic’s State Youth Championship Women created history by becoming the first senior Magic women's team to earn premiership glory. Game 1 of the 3-game series went to the Magic 56-49. Helping Hoops - 24 Hour Charity Shootout

Helping Hoops is a charity running free weekly basketball programs for disabled and disadvantaged kids. To help keep our programs free, we need your help! On June 30 - July 1 2012, we'll be shooting free throws continuously for 24 hours. We're looking for 100 people to each shoot for 15 minutes over this 24 hours and raise money for Helping Hoops to run our programs around Melbourne. [More Details]

Magic Win First Ever National Junior Title

The Hawthorn Magic under 12 boys 1 team have delivered the club its first ever national title defeating the Nunawading Spectres in the National Junior Classic Championship game 47 – 27. The National Junior Classic is an invitational only event, which is held over the Queens Birthday weekend at Melbourne Sports and Acquatic Centre. The result earns the boys a gold medal and the title of 2012 National Junior Classic Champions. [More Details]

Referees Action Day 2012

If you are a referee, you must attend this session so lock this date in your diary! The action day is where all referees hit the courts for a day of theory, practical workshops and on court instruction to help educate and develop you into a better referee. There is no cost attached to attending the session and we'll even throw in a buffet feast of Nando's to boot. All the action will take place from 10:30am - 2:30pm on Saturday June 30th at Xavier College. A whole heap of new rules have been implemented this season and these will be covered in detail on the day so this is one not to miss!

Rewarded for their performances to date in the 2012 BigV season, Hawthorn Magic's Jay Allen (Division One Men) and Ben Waldren (State Youth Championship 1 Men) were selected to play in the BigV Bounce, the league's annual all star event...A strong 1000 strong crowd witnessed the extravaganza at MSAC which also featured a dunk competition. The matches were spiced up with the awarding of 5 points for dunks and also for 3-pointers as well as a 14 second shot clock which ensured plenty of action. [More Details]

Please also note that if people park at VicRoads, the car park there will close at 7pm so cars will need to be moved by then.

Magic’s Div 1 Men & Women take on the Camberwell Dragons in Big V action on Sunday in a fight for the Bendigo Bank Community Challenge. Last time these two teams faced off they split the honours, this time the mighty Magic is looking to grab the shield with both hands.
