Bendigo Bank Referee of the Month

The Hawthorn Basketball Association in conjunction with Canterbury and Surrey Hills Community Bank^® branches are pleased to announce the inaugural winner of the Bendigo Bank Junior Referee of the Month Award.

Before a packed crowd at the first ever Big V game played at Boroondara Sports Complex on Saturday March 31st, Councilor Dick Menting, on behalf the Community Bank^® branches in Canterbury and Surrey Hills, presented the award to 13 year old Ashleigh Mabilia. Accepting the award, Ashleigh thanked her fellow referees and hoped the award would inspire more young people to give refereeing a go.

The purpose of the award is to both recognise and encourage young individuals in the pursuit of basketball officiating. Dick Menting is a passionate supporter of sport at all levels and has been a driving force behind the establishment of the fabulous Boroondara Sports Complex.
