Womens Grand Final Night

Tuesday 24th April 2007 was the night where the two teams who progressed to the grand final squared off at Xavier College for the summer season premiership.
The night was started with the B Grade grand final between Pink Ladies and Sadida. Both teams shot superbly from the field throughout the match. Sadida skipped away to an unlikely lead given the domination by Pink Ladies throughout the season where their record was an impressive 15-1. But the class of the Pink Ladies shone through in the end as they reeled in the deficit and won 52-46.
Following the curtain raiser, the cream of the womens competition CCs and Bullets played off in the A Grade grand final. It was a tale of the experience of the CCs against the youth of the Bullets. Youth won in the end as the Bullets took out the A Grade grand final 46-28.
The C Grade grand final saw familiar foes Shooters and T-Birds take on one another for the title. The T-Birds were out to reverse the result from the semi final a few weeks ago where the Shooters won through to the grand final 25-14. In what was a war of attrition in a physical match, the T-Birds held off a fast finishing Shooters to win the grand final 21-15.
Last up on court was the D-Grade's Pink Panthers and Piranhas. The Pink Panther's did however bring with them a special weapon, the Pink Panther himself. Despite the support from the sideline, the Piranhas were the stronger team throughout the match and took out the D grade competition 31-18.
The season might be over for the summer of 2006/07, but there won't be much of a break as round 1 of the winter season starts up again next week on Tuesday 1st May. Be sure to check back on the website for fixture details shortly.
