Nandos' Junior Grand Final Day 2007/08

Added 17 March 2008

Saturday 15th March was the biggest day of the season in the Junior competition, Nandos' Grand Final Day for summer 2007/08. Grand Finals were played at MLC, Xavier and the home of the Hawthorn Magic, Boroondara Sports Complex. It was a warm day outside with the mercury pushing the 35 degree mark but it was the action on court that was hot! A total of 57 grand finals were played across the 3 venues.

Following each grand final players walked away with runners up and premiership trophies. In a special treat for the junior players, players from the reigning BigV Division One premiership winning side, Hawthorn Magic were on hand to make the presentations. Trophies were also presented to the runners up Most Valuable Player (MVP) and MVP for each of the 57 divisions.

Following the completion of a long season of hard work, the referees of the Hawthorn Basketball Association returned to the HOP for a feast of Nandos' before kicking back for a few quiet drinks. In between munching away on Nandos, the referees took time to thank Zac Barry, who is signing off as the person in charge of the Saturday refereeing rosters. He will be passing the mantle on to Charlie "5 Fingers" Fyffe.

Junior competition resumes on Saturday April 12 for the 2008 winter season. In the meantime, keep up to date with everything Hawthorn Basketball at it's online home, www.hawthornbasketball.com.au. Check out some of the photos and videos from Grand Final day by following the links below.
