Jazzy's Blog: Season on the Brink
Added 6 June 2008 "Jazzy" Jay Allen Season on the brink? I still believe It's been a long time, shouldn't have left you, without a dope beat to step to (Timbaland) Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay with my the blog. Things have been very up and down for our squad in the last few weeks, a hard fought victory against Whittlesea at home, was followed by an injury to my main man and starting centre Seb Belfrage. He will be back bigger and stronger than ever. We had a narrow loss against Geelong where an undermanned Hawthorn took on one of the biggest teams in the league. We gave them too much of a start but the team showed a lot of guts to come back from 24 down at the half. Last week against league leader Sherbrooke at Monbulk, we were overwhelmed by their height and depth and we were given a reality check. Losing by 50. We scored enough points (97) but we had a hard time firstly containing the inside where we were forced to help down, which then gave their shooters open looks. So no matter which way we turned we were punished. I have being getting a lot of box and 1 defense lately, which focuses the opposition defense on my every move. Sometimes legally, most times illegally, but I have to roll with the 'punches' so to speak and hopefully the powers that be will start watching all parts of the game instead of just the ball. The next few weeks gives some guys on our squad a well deserved opportunity to step up and really contribute to our teams success. More than ever we need to come together and work as a unit. Look for Pauly K to start posting some solid numbers. And my favourite 1-2 punch of Pro City's finest Zac Barry and Paycheck Jordan to be major contributors. Warren Staples (with new scarf) is back from injury and will bring some veteran leadership to the table.
Injury Status The long weekend brings a team bonding session of skeet shooting in Werribee, where I can confirm that Patty will not be donning some antlers and a target on his back. Big thanks to Nando's who are having us for lunch on Saturday. Jimmy, Harry, Willy and the crew, we love you guys and can't wait to get our chicken on tomorrow. All the best everyone, I know I wasn't very humourous this week, some would ask 'when am i ever funny?' but it is time to switch on and get some wins. Time is running out. Jazzy Lakers in 5 games. I know they dropped the 1st game today, but it's Mamba time and i know they got 4 straight in them.
