Hawthorn Magic Needs You

The Hawthorn Basketball Association is represented by the Hawthorn Magic senior teams in BigV Basketball league, the biggest in Victoria. 2009 will be a significant year in Hawthorn Magic's history. Unlike past seasons when the Senior Magic Program only had two senior teams, in 2009 the Magic have entered two additional teams into the Youth League (Youth League Two Men and Youth League Women). These teams will serve as development teams providing an opportunity for graduating Magic juniors to play at senior level whilst providing a smooth transition.

As the Magic on court program grows, there is also a need for its technical official and game night crew to grow with it to help support the program. There are many facets of putting together a home game night at the Boroondara Sports Complex and it would not be possible without the help of scoretable officials, statisticians, court announcers, video camera operators, photographers, floor wipers and general helpers .

There are many reasons for getting involved in the Magic BigV program. Scoretable officials and statisticians are provided with respective Victorian Basketball Scoretable Association and Victorian Basketball Statisticians training and widely recognised accreditation. By completing these training courses and being involved on a regular basis on the scorebench is not only a challenge but further develops your knowledge of basketball rules and enables you to be a student of the game itself. Other roles on game night put you in the vibrant and fun environment which are game nights/days at Hawthorn not to mention the financial bonus for being involved. But most of all, the biggest reason for being a part of it all is to have a good time at the basketball and to help and contribute to the success of your association!
