We Back…
I’ve been asked to take over from Jazzy Jay as this years blog writer for the Hawthorn Magic Big V men’s program, so expect to see a lot of in-house jokes and references to rap lyrics. If you don’t understand anything I say come down to our home games and I’ll be more than happy to explain. With that said, let’s take it to the dungeon…

Pre-Season…
Pre-season kicked off last year with some new faces showing up to be apart of the most handsome men’s teams in the league. The reduced minutes per quarter meant less roster spots, so everyone was keen to get in a do work. The Div-1 team had some big spots to fill with Nick Dimatroff retiring and Seb “Lactose Intolerant” Belfrage and Petey Hayman jetting off to do damage on the world. Another big loss to the Div 1 team was Matty “Slav-Dog-Millionaire” Slaven who relocated to Sydney. His famous post-season comments directed at opposing teams and his wife Leiha’s assistant coaching will be massively missed.

With the Youth League boys taking out the title last year, they have been given a new challenge by moving up into Youth League 1 division. They also face another challenge of replacing their team theme song “Infinity” as a league wide ban was placed on this song after it was played 4 times in a row during the pre-game horseshoe drill in the finals. With Zac Barry moving up to the Div 1 team, and Jerry Juric off to college, everyone was practicing their mid range jumpers and trying to outdo each other with who could rock the shortest shorts to training. I’m happy to say the Mark Jackson-like Knicks shorts I bought for Fordey in Tokyo are definitely winning that statistical category.

Round 1…
The first round of the season see’s the Div 1 squad taking on Melbourne Uni on Sat night, Div 2 Champions last season, which will be a great test for us. The Youth League squad will Anti-Up against Geelong Sat night and Hume City on Sunday, both away games. Everyone is keen to go and ready to rep Hawthorn Magic. Should be a good season.

We would love to see everyone at our first home games next week, with the Div 1 boys tipping off at 8:30pm Saturday night and the Youth League boys on Sunday at 2pm at BSC. See you at Loft…
