Geelong...
Round 3 saw the Div 1 boys head down to Geelong. Youth League had the weekend off and with a few injuries and guys with work commmitments it allowed Fordey, PK and Cream to come into the side. We played an awesome game... for the first 5 minutes. The rest of the game, not so much. Geelong shot better, and outworked us. I haven't been involved in a game in quite a while where so many travels were called, maybe the ref's for the weekend were told to keep an eye on this, or just call travels anyway. I'll try get the inside word from our resident expert referee Crowie and get back to you. No one likes traveling all the way to Geelong to lose, or eat the 2 pieces of Pizza left over in the after game spread. We don't work like that around Hawthorn way, visiting teams are guaranteed to get first dibs on the sausage rolls and cheese and cabana. It's called manners Geelong, manners...
Bench Techs...
I have never received a tech foul in Big V, so for my first one to be a bench tech by saying "3 slaps" was kind of annoying. I always thought mine would be after catching an oop and throwing it down over some clown, doing the Gilbert Arenas double gun salute towards the defender, then getting T'd up for taunting. Maybe the next one...
Injuries…
When you look at Jimmy Todd, you cant help but think of colour commentary by Bill Walton during a LeBron game. Lines like "Such a perfect human specimen," and "A man carved out of stone" are definately things ol Billy would say. So how does such a beast of a guy end up with deep vein thrombosis? We haven't had Jimmy in the line-up since pre-season because of a corky he got in the pre-season tournament. We all thought, no probs, I get corky's all the time at training, I'll see him Monday. He must of not done enough squat-thrusts that week because this week we hear Jimmy has DVT. Hopefully he can get that blood moving and we can have him back in the line-up soon, there is only so much sleeveless v-neck hoodies I can handle seeing at training in one year, and Jimmy has used his quota.
All Black Everything...
This week Div 1 take on Werribee at home on Sat night after the Div 1 girls. Tip off is at 8:30pm. We saw Werribee twice in the pre-season, splitting the wins. With our full squad I really think we could be successful this year, but we haven't had our entire roster once yet this season. We know these guys have some shooters, and have a solid big in Nathan Marsh (M Slavens B.F.F), so if we come out and play our game I don't see any reason why we can't come away with a good win.YL boys have Melbourne away Sat night and Geelong at home on Sunday. As always we appreciate all the supporters that come down. I'm really trying to get some unity going in the stands so if your down to support the Magic, turn up in black, I promise I will give you a high-5, a fist pound if you turn up in all black and a slap in the face if you turn up in double denim. If you have never been down to see us play, it's life changing so get involved we really appreciate the supporters.
