2011 Hawthorn Magic 3 on 3 Competition Wrap Up
Added 13 December 2011 As always, the annual Hawthorn Magic 3 on 3 competition was filled with fun, excitement and wacky uniforms. Here's a wrap up of all the action. ![]()
The Go to Girls proved the team to beat in the 9G1, they won all three of their games to take the title in fine fashion. 9G2 The Breakouts played all three games without a point being scored against them, a pretty impressive performance against quality oppositition. 11G1 Rough Diamonds were a cut above the competition to take out this blue ribbon division. 11G2 SC Diamonds Magic collected the silverware after three very strong games against The Sour Worms, Popular Dorks and Team JAAS. 13G1 Kew Crocs displayed some great team skills against three very solid opponents to take the crown. Santas Little Helpers helped themselves to the gold trophy after three highly entertaining matches in the 13G2. ACEZ played up an age group and still managed to dazzle their opposition in the 15G1 to grab the gold. Team Joeys took out the Kings of Funk award for their fine display of team uniforms 15G2 was a mixed bag of teams, which saw a ton of close results. The Inbetweeners eventually came out on top after narrowly beating the well performed Alley Cats 16-14. 17G1 was a fantastic competition with the last game of the round deciding the winner. The Boguns complete with Collingwood football jumpers and tattoos just hung on to beat the Cows by 1 point and take the title. 9B1 was red-hot and saw the Killer Bees sneak home with the title after a thrilling 6 all draw verses the SC Rockstars. Honourable mention to the Nuggets as well after going down by a single point to the eventual winners. 9B2 saw the Devils in Disguise (complete with red face masks) snatch the title after a very tight 4-0 result against the Young Guns. 11B1 The Awesome Squad were just that and then some to take top marks and the shiny trophy in this division. 11B2 The Big 3 got home in a well contested division featuring a strong showing from the Titans club and plenty of highlights. 11B3 Chatham Warriors showed a touch of class in their division to get wins over the Control Freaks, Titans Titanium and the Hartwell Slammers. 11B4 Raptors 2 took out the title by the skin of their teeth after the valiant Hartwell Hoopers recorded an 8 all draw, followed by a 12 all draw and then an 8-12 loss to the Raptors. 13B1 Team SLAM won the division with the Dons a hare's breath away in second in what was an extremely close comp. 13B2 The Ref Heads turned it on to take the honours here, complete with referee inspired uniforms. Another highlight of this grade was the 22 all draw between the 3 Stooges and LCM's. 13B3 Mixed team the Dunkers 2.0 played a tied game against NBA Assortments but still did just enough to take top spot and the coveted sash. 13B4 Team Triple Threat took on all comers to comfortably win their division with a massive 269%. The Awesome Foursome kept the dream alive with a strong showing over the Jetpacks, South Allstars and Dynamites in the 13B5 to capture a highly sought after title. 15B1 Got the day started early with Shake 'N Bake leading the way, the Try Hards came a close second but the day belonged to the Bakers. 19B1 Played mainly on drop height rings, this division provided more laughs than highlights, Yao Know What I Ming snagged the winners title with Teen Ninja Turtles gaining a dishonourable mention courtesy of their outrageous Santa costumes. MIX/1 Miranda Charlton's Lucky Keno team scrapped home against a very lively Mixed KR3W team led by Will Buzza Burrell to take top spot and the all the marbles. MIX/2 FBI had more moves than a can full of worms to help them seal the title for 2011, team leader Sam Chamberlain said the win was the pinnacle of his playing career. Family/1 Thanks to a heart stopping 34-33 win over Five Cougars Thanks, the highly rated Franchise squad (AKA the Barry family) once again took the title of best Family team for 2011. Family/2 In the hotly contest FAM/2 division it was a photo finish between the Moonies, Big K's, Nimble Ninjas and the Bullshots, thanks to a young Charlotte Moon, the Moonies came away with the grand prize.
