The following information will provide a general overview of the structure and governance of HBA Senior Domestic Competitions.
FIXTURES, LADDERS & RESULTS
Games times and venues are available at the HBA website. Mobile and tablet device support is offered via the SportsTG GameDay app – these programs are managed external from HBA operations and should not be relied upon for accurate / up to date information. If in doubt always refer back to the HBA website. Fixtures are subject to change and should be checked regularly. Teams are advised NOT to print fixtures.
Senior competitions are available for players 15yrs and older. If you are looking for junior competitions click HERE
Timing – 2 x 18minute halves / 45 minute schedule
Venues – various facilities are used across the Boroondara municipality and surrounding region. For a complete list of venues click HERE
Match Times – Mid-week competitions (Women & Men) are scheduled between 6:40pm to 10:00pm. Sunday Mixed competition are scheduled between 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Times are subject to change based on venue availability and total entries received.
As a general guide, below you will find the venues predominately used for each competition;
Sunday Mixed: Kew High School, Methodist Ladies’ College & Xavier College
Tuesday Women: Methodist Ladies’ College & Xavier College
Wednesday Men: Xavier College & Carey Baptist Grammar School
Thursday Men: Boroondara Sports Complex, Kew High School, Kingswood & Methodist Ladies’ College

SEASON DATES & STRUCTURE
Summer Season – October to March
Winter Season – April to September
Competition Schedule – Games are not scheduled on public holidays. Refer to competition calendars for exact dates of current season.
Grading Phase – First three rounds of season. These games do not count towards season ladder.
Finals Phase – Top 4 in two round playoff format.
HBA welcomes registrations from new and existing teams. The registration period will be open for twice a year leading up to the commencement of the Winter and Summer seasons. The majority of teams & players in Senior Domestic Competitions register as independent teams. Teams are required to be fully self sufficient; register online, have a complete list of players, and pay all applicable fees directly to the HBA.
Fee schedule effective Winter 2019 season:
New Team Registration Fee = $260.00
Existing Team Registration Fee = $210.00
Late Team Registration Fee = Double standard registration fee
Team Bond (New Teams) = $150.00
Match Fees = $77.00
24hr+ notification = $154.00
Less than 24hrs notice = $184.00
Un-notified = $214.00
HBA operates as cashless system with registration and match fees paid via online registration & invoicing. There are no door entry or match fees paid at any venue on match day.
COMPETITION BY-LAWS AND CODES OF CONDUCT
All teams and their members must be familiar with HBA Competition By-Laws and Basketball Victoria Codes of Conduct. These documents are available from the HBA website.
By registering and playing at HBA all members agree to the following;
The team will abide by the HBA By-Laws.
The team will comply with BV Codes of Conduct.
The team will comply with all requirements in relation to Working With Children Check legislation.
The team will ensure that all fees, match payments and fines incurred will be paid promptly.
