Hawthorn Magic have two training sessions per week, a Sunday 1.5 to 2 hr session and midweek 1 hr training session. Training times will depend on your age group. It is your responsibility to be at all training sessions.
Hawthorn Magic is dedicated to the development of players, hence there is a high
training-to-game ratio to improve player athleticism, skill, and team strategy.
Sunday training is one and a half hour to two hour session depending on the coach .
Midweek training is a one hour session.
Magic training can intensify coming into finals and players need to be able to
meet and achieve training commitments for the duration of the season.
Teams rely on the commitment of each parent to get players to training 15 minutes early to stretch and prepare before activity commences on the court.
Players are required to:
*train in magic uniform (reversible training singlet and shorts)
*bring a basketball
*bring a drink bottle
Should a situation arise where you are unable to make training, prior notice of absence must be given to the Team Coach and Team Manager.
Attendance and participation at all training sessions is important, both in developing the player’s ability to their fullest and in fulfilling the inherent responsibility and obligation each player has to their coach and team.
Athletes must advise Team Coaches of any injury prior to training and games.
Magic encourages athletes to wear a mouthguard at training and games.
Registered athletes are covered by the Basketball Victoria’s Sports Injury and Personal Accident Insurance policy for expenses associated with injuries incurred at training, games and tournaments.
