What is Hawthorn Junior Magic?
Hawthorn Junior Magic (Magic) is the representative arm for Girls’ and Boys’ basketball within Hawthorn Basketball Association (HBA). Magic was established by the HBA to provide a representative pathway to athletes, coaches, referees, administrators and parents.
Magic is responsible for the selection, training, and fielding of teams that compete in the Melb Utd Victorian Junior Basketball League (MUVJBL), Tournaments and National Competitions, and for the development of basketball initiatives that encompass both player development and coach education, promoting enhanced enjoyment, participation and development of the game.
Magic provides a program for athletes who wish to enhance their skills by competing at higher levels of basketball competition.
Magic draws its players from local suburbs primarily through the local domestic competition of the HBA .
Participants are encouraged to remain actively involved in their domestic club, as Magic is an additional representative opportunity for all to develop their skills, both technical, and tactical, on court performance and physical fitness.
Who can join Magic ?
Anybody under 19 years can tryout for Magic selection.
Each year at the end of the MUVJBL Championship/finals season, positions in all of the Magic teams are declared open.
To secure a playing position in one of our teams, all athletes interested have to attend our annual Magic Trials.
Athletes then have to earn their position on one of our teams.
Magic aims to make up the best possible teams to compete at the best possible levels!
Representing the HBA is an honor and achievement.
The HBA is proud of all Athletes selected to play for Magic!
